Art Exhibition

We know that weaving is very important to the Maori people. They make useful things like bowls and kete by weaving flax, They also weave many different materials to make things that are decorative.

There are lots of well-known weavers in New Zealand and one of the most accomplished is Reihana Parata.

We were inspired to do our own weaving in Room 2.

These pictures show what we did to make our awesome art.

Poppy Came to Room 2

Here are some of our stories about Poppy...

Grace brought Poppy to room 2. She jumped on us. She had a cute tail. She had a beard and she had fur under her tummy.
By Kaden

"Woof". Grace's tiny dog came to visit Room 2. She is grey and white. She is snuggly and she smelled me. She has floppy ears and she felt soft like a pillow. She has some short fur under her tummy. I like Poppy and she likes me.

Grace brought her puppy to school.Poppy is really hairy and she looked like she had a moustache. She is very cute.

Mushroom Tasting Time

It is time...let's pick the mushrooms and cook them up.

We picked them carefully and washed them to get all the dirt off. Then we put grated cheese, parsley and spring onions on top.

Last of all we baked them in the oven and abracadabra...

They looked scrumptious and smelled delicious!
Most of us had a taste and liked them. Mr Dickson loves mushrooms so we shared some with him too.

I think he likes it :)

Thanks Addy and Addy's mum for this great mushroom growing and tasting experience.

Joshua's Pets

Here are Joshua's family pets.

These oinky piglets are little girls named Barbie and Que

Josh's cute little kitten is called Sandy

Landfill Trip Stories

Read some of our great writing about our trip...

Big Machines
We went to the landfill and we saw a special crusher. We saw heaps of rubbish and we saw some trucks. We saw a digger and we learned about recycling.  By Kaden

The Dump
We went to the landfill dump with Room One. There was 'fart gas'and there was a crusher. We went on a bus. There was lots of rubbish blowing around and it smelled stinky. We had to wear jackets.  By Neena

The Crusher
I liked the crusher. It had spiky wheels and it crushed the rubbish. The 'fart gas' was smelly.  By Shikane

Landfill Trip
Yesterday we went to the landfill. We saw seagulls and they were flying over all the rubbish. The smell was disgusting - it was 'fart gas'. We saw valleys and mountains. They were so big. It was sunny and we needed hats. We went in a bus. It was a little bit wobbly. Neena and me sat in the front  we were excited. There was a swimming pool but we were not allowed to swim in the pool.  By Anoop

* 'fart gas' is what the people at the landfill call the methane gas. We learned that they now turn it into electricity and it makes enough for 2,000 houses.
